FURUKAWA UNIC’s strength is defined by our exceptional quality and technology. For more than half a century, ever since we launched the first truck-mounted crane in Japan back in 1961, we have continued to develop new technologies to meet user’s needs as well as improve our quality.

UNIC’s philosophy of continually designing with our customers in mind has led us to gain wide support among our many customers. Our products are so highly appreciated that we now have a 50% share of the domestic market. The following section explains the reasons why UNIC is so highly regarded.

Design Philosophy to Pursue High Standards

Safer, easier to use, and more powerful. Through countless trials and errors, we have evolved our products over the course of our long history to satisfy our users' needs with higher standards. With the manufacturing tradition of "creating something from scratch with our own two hands" that has been passed down since our establishment, UNIC has developed technologies and is a pioneer of the industry.

These technology advancements have enabled us to further evolve our "UNIC red cranes." The UNIC product line now includes not only truck-mounted cranes, but also mini crawler cranes that enable crane operation at smaller work sites, as well as operating ocean cranes for ship mounted. This has led to a demand to grow in even more diverse fields.

Design Philosophy to Pursue High Standards

High Self-manufacturing Ratio

The "mother factory" of FURUKAWA UNIC is the Sakura Works located in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. The Sakura Works carries out complete production processes—from designing to manufacturing—not only of major crane components such as booms and bases, but also hydraulic components that need to be very precise such as control valves and cylinders.
We manufacture many components at our factories and therefore we can offer products that meet the needs of our users' to the finest level of detail. The self-manufacturing know-how accumulated at the Sakura Factory is applied to other factories in China and Thailand as well.

Thorough Quality Control

Safety is our first and foremost concern. Followed by continuing to listen to the voices of our customers, imagining the delight of people using our products, and the pursuit of high quality. This is how FURUKAWA UNIC has approached manufacturing. This approach is embodied by thorough quality control, including not only a completion inspection, but also a component inspection that involves the use of three-dimensional measuring instruments.

In fact, many UNIC products are used for several decades in a lot of countries because of their outstanding quality. Needless to say, we are certificated with the ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) global factory quality certifications.

Diversity of Mounting Methods

Although their names may imply that they can only be mounted on specific structures, our truck-mounted cranes and ocean cranes are actually used in diverse fields. In some cases, our truck-mounted cranes are mounted on forklifts, forwarders, and railroad cars so that they can serve as cranes, as well as being used for their improved functionality and workability. Our ocean cranes, on the other hand, can also be installed as stationary cranes and are actually used at ports and in factories, for instance. They are very useful for quick crane work that does not require large cranes.
