Furukawa Co., Ltd. was founded in 1875 as a copper mine developer. Since then, Furukawa has worked tirelessly to develop new businesses that meet the needs of the times. It manages a group of companies with technology and products cultivated through a history of over 140 years in copper mine development as it continues to evolve and develop with its current core industries of machinery and materials.
Furukawa Co., Ltd. also acts as the original company of the Furukawa Group, made up of such companies as Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.; Fuji Electric Co., Ltd.; Fujitsu Ltd.; The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd.; and Mizuho Financial Group, Inc.
Furukawa Industrial Machinery Systems Co., Ltd. manufactures and distributes slurry pumps, which are used to move wastewater and other liquids that contain solid matter, as well as the crushers, grinding mills, and screens that are used in industries such as iron manufacture, the chemical industry, nonferrous metal industries, and quarrying. The company also designs, manufactures, and builds structures such as steel bridges and belt conveyors.
Furukawa Industrial Machinery Systems has over 100 years of experience developing pumps. Originally developed to discharge water at our mines we provide a broad range of pumps for different uses that are delivered to many customers and make contributions at many different sites.
Machines used in crushing plants to crush stone or ore and raw materials such as limestone. Available crushers include jaw crushers for primary crushing and cone crushers for secondary crushing.
Over many years, Furukawa Industrial Machinery Systems has delivered steel structures that make up the core of social infrastructure maintenance facilities, such as road bridges and expressway viaducts.
Our strength comes from our comprehensive ability to undertake the entire construction process, from overall design, to operation and management. This work also made extraordinary contributions to recovery efforts from the 3/11 Great East Japan Earthquake, by transporting soil generated from soil-cutting work.
FURUKAWA ROCK DRILL Co., Ltd. ("FRD") manufactures and sells rock drills required for digging and breaking operations in infrastructure and mine development projects, such as tunnel jumbos, hydraulic breakers, and hydraulic crawlers.
Machinery for boring holes to load with blasting powder at tunnel excavation sites. In Japan, FRD tunnel drill jumbos have been used in many mountain road and railway tunnel projects, such as the Kan-Etsu and Seikan Tunnels.
Attachments to hydraulic shovels used for digging bedrock, cutting rocks into blocks, breaking concrete, and other purposes. FRD provides high-quality, highly reliable hydraulic breakers to countries around the world.
Self-propelled machines that boreholes down into bedrock are used at domestic and overseas lime mines, quarries, civil engineering sites, and construction sites. FRD now has a 30% share in the global hydraulic crawler drill market. Recognized for the ability to maintain optimum boring conditions in accordance with changing bedrock conditions and the precise, speedy drilling technology that rarely creates crooked holes, FRD hydraulic crawler drills are increasingly attracting demand for use at infrastructure and mine development sites.
Furukawa Metals Resources Co., Ltd. has inherited the metals business of the Furukawa Company Group that originated from the company’s foundation and currently manufactures and distributes electrolytic copper, gold, silver, and sulfuric acid.
Furukawa Denshi Co., Ltd. manufactures and distributes electronic materials such as the high-purity metal arsenide and crystal components used as raw materials in the fabrication of gallium arsenide semiconductors, as well as coils, aluminum nitride ceramics, and lenses for lasers.
Furukawa Chemicals Co., Ltd. manufactures and distributes sulfuric acid, materials derived from sulfuric acid such as polymeric ferric sulfate solution, and copper oxide such as cuprous oxide.
