Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set to identify global priority issues concerning sustainable development for an ideal world by 2030. The SDGs were created to promote global efforts and are centered around 17 goals and 169 targets. The U.N. General Assembly adopted the SDGs in September 2015 and presented a plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity.
UNIC strives to contribute to the SDGs, which the international community came together to set, through business activities and initiatives to fulfill its corporate social responsibility.

Truck-mounted cranes contribute widely to society as machines that provide higher efficiency and save labor in the logistics and construction industry, which is suffering the problems of an aging labor force and labor shortages. Our cranes are actively used in infrastructure development projects to expand social capital overseas, especially those in developing countries.

Traditionally UNIC has developed products that enable users to work safely and securely. To prevent accidents such as trucks falling over, cranes breaking, and suspended loads falling, our truck-mounted cranes are equipped with multiple safety mechanisms, such as an overload prevention system and a radio control system for remote crane operations.

We also focus on environmental friendliness; we take into consideration our surroundings and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by pursuing lower noise levels and higher fuel efficiency. The U-can ECO Series models launched in 2006, are equipped with an eco-pump system that delivers performance at half the RPM of previous models. While our previous models consumed 5.2 liters of diesel oil per hour, these eco models consume only 3.1 liters per hour at maximum, a 40% reduction in fuel consumption. This drastically contributes to reducing CO2 emissions. This extraordinary environmental performance was recognized by the Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry in Japan and we were awarded the energy conservation center Chairman’s award at the 18th Energy Conservation Grand Prize hosted in 2008. We were the first to receive the award for truck-mounted cranes.

Mini Crawler Cranes

Goal to Contribute to

Related Goals

As mini crawler cranes make it possible to work in narrow places, they are used where it is impossible to achieve mechanization and labor-saving by other means. Similar to our truck-mounted cranes, UNIC has continuously aided in securing the safety of crane operations and reducing the need for heavy labor. We also promote the manufacturing of products that conform to emission regulations around the world and launched the industry's first battery-powered mini crawler crane in 2016 with the concept of a zero emissions crane. Not only does this complete electrification contribute to reducing environmental impact through the reduction of emissions, but it also makes it possible to work indoors comfortably without noise or emissions.
